Make DIY clay Rakhi
On the special day of Rakhi that
celebrates the beautiful bond of a brother and sister, make it even more
special by creating your own Rakhis! This Raksha Bandhan, make your own DIY
rakhi with clay and make it multipurpose, so that the rakhi can be used daily
by your brother in the future! Yes, here is a DIY idea for making a rakhi that
can’t be bought from a online rakhi store! Make a special rakhi, handmade with love, that your brother can
continue using as a keychain! If you are as excited as we are, let’s get to it.
Method:
1. Roll out your clay dough and cut out your desired shape and let it air dry
for about 15 minutes.
2. Once it is somewhat solid, draw your
design on the clay trinket. Take inspiration from your bond or maybe something
that define your brother or something he loves. You can even customize by
writing his name on it!
3. Apply a base coat. Our advice is to
apply a coat of white and dry it before filing in the background color, as the
white base makes it brighter. Let the base coat dry after painting it. Then
paint over the other layers and color in the design and lettering.
4. After drying, turn your clay trinket
upside down and place your thread in such a way that the trinket is in the
centre, so that it sits well on the wrist. Attach the thread to the trinket
with more soft clay and let it harden and become a part of the trinket. Add a
thread loop on top to make place to attach a detachable key chain for the
future use. Repeat the same method to attach it. Let it dry.
Now color the back and add beads on the thread if required and you’re done!
